assassin deck. magic the gathering mtg need advice?
Ok so basically I'm running near 20 kill creature cards and tons of assassins to the point that creatures simply will not live ever. I have grave peril for protection from black creature delay. If you have any ideas on what i should do to keep opposing creatures off the board feel free but what I'm most concerned for is... HOW DO I WIN? What strategy wouldn't make me modify the deck too much and allow me to make the killing blow without attacking with my little weak assassins a thousand times. I realize this doesn't sound well thought out but thats because I only started building it about ten minutes ago so any and all thoughts are welcome. Thanks

- If your main problem is damage to the opponent to win, then scrap a few assassins and go for destroy instant/sorcery cards such as Terror, Rend flesh, Damnation (man, what a good card!), Nameless inversion, and the like. Put some high powered creatures like Avatar of Woe, Mortivore, or Reiver Demon even if they are not assassins. Just make sure you only have a few high mana cost spells. The goal of assassins is to clear a path for big creatures and not for themselves. Try putting in Phage the Untouchable if you want a vintage type deck and assuming that your deck is black. Clear the path with destroy cards and kill using phage. What Fun!
- I'd probably go with a card like Final Revals Final Revals gives all creatures +2/0 or 0/-2 until end of turn. So lets assume your opponent has no creatures cuz you've killed them all. Lets assume that you have 7 1/1 creatures in play. Playing Final Revels and attacking would net you 21 points of damage.. That's game. Another option might be to run Black Moon Enchantment All black creatures get +1/+1 With 2 Black moons in play you'd have the same effect.
- The best way to go would probably to play for the long game (in other words, use all your kill cards to stall the game) and then use Mortivore to clean up at the end. After a game has gone on for 12+ turns, Mortivore can get absurdly large. If you don't want/can't use Mortivore for any reason, use Scarblade Elite. It allows you to get some use our of your dead Assassins and Nameless Inversions, and will often net lots of card advantage. Also, Nightshade Assassin and Garza's Assassin are two powerhouse assassins you can use. Another win condition you could use would be Consume Spirit. If you stall out to the long game, a large Consume Spirit to the head followed by an all-out attack is often enough to win the game - and if not, you should have plenty of life to survive a counterattack.
- Twenty kill creatures is a bit too much. A control deck should only have 8 or so creatures that beat in for the win. I am thinking that you are putting in much too many creatures at the expense of some of your more powerful spells. Consider putting in 4x Damnation, 4x Terror, 4x Slaughter Pact (saves your ass when you are in a tight spot, as long as you remember to pay its upkeep cost.) You have a few options. Elvish Assassin allows you to remove assassins in the graveyard to kill creatures. You can also do something like Tombstalker, which gets cheaper to cast as your graveyard gets more full. Or, you can always splash green for Tarmogoyf (you can do this with a lot of decks. Tarmogoyf wins games by itself.) Right now, you need more spells to control the board rather than a lot of creatures. Hope that Helped!
